Fixing Recording Permissions on macOS

Three toggles sit behind the desktop features. Here is exactly where each one lives.

Some Clinic Scribe features depend on macOS permissions that the app cannot grant for you and, in some cases, cannot even detect. If a desktop feature seems silent, it is almost always one of three toggles in System Settings. Here is each one, what it enables, and the exact path.

The patient's voice is not captured in telehealth

In a video visit the patient's voice comes out of your speakers, so Clinic Scribe needs the Screen and System Audio Recording permission to hear it.

  1. Open System Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Screen and System Audio Recording.
  2. Find ClinicFrame and turn on System Audio Recording.
  3. Quit and reopen the app so macOS applies the change.

Meetings are not being detected

Automatic Meet detection reads which tab your browser is showing, which needs the Automation permission.

  1. Open System Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Automation.
  2. Find ClinicFrame and enable the toggle for your browser (Chrome, Arc, Safari, Edge, or Brave).

If you dismissed the macOS prompt when it first appeared, the system will not ask again, so enabling it manually here is the only way.

You are not getting notifications

Pre-session reminders and meeting alerts use macOS notifications.

  1. Open System Settings, then Notifications.
  2. Find ClinicFrame and allow notifications.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the patient's voice missing from my telehealth transcript?

Clinic Scribe needs the Screen and System Audio Recording permission on macOS to capture the patient's voice coming through your speakers. Open System Settings, Privacy and Security, Screen and System Audio Recording, enable ClinicFrame, then quit and reopen the app.

macOS never asked me for a permission. How do I enable it?

macOS only prompts once. If you dismissed it, you enable the permission manually in System Settings under Privacy and Security, in the relevant section (System Audio Recording, Automation, or Notifications), then reopen the app.

Which permissions does Clinic Scribe use on Mac?

Four: Microphone for in-person capture, Screen and System Audio Recording for telehealth, Automation for meeting detection, and Notifications for reminders and alerts. You only need the ones tied to the features you use.
